Lando Norris was quickest in final free practice ahead of qualifying for the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix, heading up another McLaren 1-2.

The Brit’s 1:04.324s was enough to see him head the times, with Oscar Piastri in second place, one tenth behind.

Max Verstappen was third, a further tenth back, with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari in fourth, four hundredths behind. Team-mate Lewis Hamilton was fifth, but two tenths off the Monegasque.

Mercedes pair George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli were sixth and seventh, with Lance Stroll continuing his impressive form in eighth.

Yuki Tsunoda was once again in the top 10, as was Gabriel Bortoleto, the Brazilian rookie threatening to produce his best showing of the year so far.

Liam Lawson was 11th, with Fernando Alonso, Nico Hulkenberg, and the Williams duo Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz following behind.

The Haas cars of Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon was 16th and 18th, sandwiching the Alpine of Pierre Gasly, with team-mate Franco Colapinto 19th.

Isack Hadjar was at the foot of the classification, the Frenchman spinning towards the end of the session at the final corner.

Many drivers suffered similar moments towards the end of the hour, with Max Verstappen also pirouetting at the same place. Tsunoda did the same on the exit of Turn 1, with Colpinto finding himself pointing backwards at Turn 2.

Leclerc and Norris both went wide at the same corner as they tried to better their times and find the limit with qualifying now just a matter of hours away.
