Lando Norris led team-mate Oscar Piastri in a McLaren 1-2 in FP2 for the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring.

The Brit, who missed the first session with the team in order to give a practice stint to Alex Dunne, set a 1:04.580s – around a second quicker than George Russell’s FP1 lap – saw him top the timesheets, with Piastri second, a tenth and a half behind.

Max Verstappen, second in FP1, was third, a further two tenths behind, with Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll an impressive fourth place.

Charles Leclerc, who sat out FP1 in favour of F2 star Dino Beganovic, was fifth, with Russell sixth.

Yuki Tsunoda was seventh in what might have been a confidence-boosting session for the Japanese, followed by Gabriel Bortoleto in a second successive top 10 slot.

Fernando Alonso was ninth in the second Aston Martin, with Lewis Hamilton in 10th.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli was 11th, after an early scare in which he skidded onto the track limits into Turn 4 to avoid a slowing Hamilton.

The Racing Bulls pairing of Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar were 12th and 13th respectively, followed by Pierre Gasly.

Esteban Ocon was 15th for Haas, with Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz’s Williams cars were 16th and 17th, sandwiched by the second Haas of Oliver Bearman.

Nico Hulkenberg’s Sauber and Franco Colapinto’s Alpine were at the tail end of the order, in an hour’s running which saw dark clouds cover the Styrian circuit, but staved off the threat of heavy rain.
