A severe weather warning has been issued ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix as the FIA has instructed teams to prepare for the “anticipated” conditions.
With the circuit located in a mountainous region of Austria, the race weekend often faces ever-changing weather, from intense heat to heavy storms.
On Thursday, during media day at the Red Bull Ring, an alert warned of ‘stormy winds’ up to 100 kilometers per hour.
It stated: “Severe weather is expected in the Spielberg area between 1400 and 2400.”
“Risk of stormy winds with velocity up to 100km/h, local floodings, collapsing trees, hail and lightning strikes.
“Avoid parks and forest areas as well as riverbanks and secure loose items like tents and sunshades on camp grounds.
“Observe the local weather development and prepare for sudden weather changes.”
Since then, the FIA has issued a document which reads: “Due to the anticipated severe weather conditions, all teams are allowed to close their garage doors.”
