Having won the last four Formula 1 Drivers Championship titles in a row, many would have expected Max Verstappen to be well clear in the standings in the 2025 edition by now, but that has not proven the case…
Whether it be down to Verstappen taking his foot off the pedal of his competitors upping their game, the fact is, the Belgian driver currently sits third in the standings after the first seven races of the season, but his recent win ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix certainly holds him in good stead as the reigning Champion looks to make up ground on McLaren.
There is nothing quite like experiencing F1 action live and in person, and if you want to join the thousands of fans in the stands by the track, then GO Sport Travel is the best option around, providing the best packages for all upcoming races.
McLaren are now a definite challenger to the Red Bull star with both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris pulling off great performances thus far, helping to make this season a far more attractive one.
The 27-year-old Verstappen did triumph in the third race of the season, in Japan, but then fell away in the next three races before returning with a bang at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy.
Verstappen believes his car is more effective on the faster tracks, and so it proved at Imola, with the revered driver commenting.
“It’s very track specific. I mean, every time that we have been really competitive, it’s been high-speed tracks, high-speed corners,” said Max after his Italian win. “We still have work to do, but I do think it’s been a very positive weekend for us.
“Friday was very difficult still, but then I think we found a better set-up for Saturday. And I just hope that we can use that a bit more often because it definitely brought the car in a better window.”

Looking forward to the stunning street circuit in Monaco, Verstappen continued.
“Monaco is, of course, very, very different. So, let’s see how we are going to perform there. You know, last year was very difficult for us. I don’t expect it to be a lot easier this time around because there’s, of course, a lot of low speed, but we’ll see.”
Indeed, there is nothing quite like racing on the famous track in the principality, and it’s a race that Verstappen knows only too well. This will be his 11th time racing in Monaco, and he won there in both 2021 and 2023.
Monaco is also Verstappen’s home race and one he greatly enjoys.
“Freedom for me is just being at home and not having to worry about doing the next thing on my schedule,” added Max. “And Monaco is the place I call home. It’s where I can relax and do my own thing.”
One can guarantee Verstappen will be laser-focused on completing a victory in the iconic race, and doing so would certainly help put both Piastri and Norris back in their place and open up what is already a thrilling F1 campaign.
