One week after the Indianapolis 500, IndyCar held a crazy race around the streets of downtown Detroit.

Pit stop shuffles and a red flag among other incidents resulted in a shaken up order, but Kyle Kirkwood moved back to the front in time to take his fourth IndyCar victory.

Santino Ferrucci and Colton Herta scrapped in the final laps but remained in order for second and third across the line. Will Power lost out in the same battle, eventually crossing the line fourth.

A large incident interrupted the final leg of the race when Louis Foster’s suspension failed at the end of the longest straight. He collected Felix Rosenqvist on the way, and both drivers suffered a heavy impact with the tire barriers.

Scott McLaughlin was given a penalty for running into the back of Nolan Siegel early in the race and causing the young driver to spin. McLaughlin recovered to 12th but Siegel was only able to manage 19th on the day.

After a long stretch of consecutive on track action, drivers finally have a one week break before returning to race the first short oval of the season.
