Mercedes leads the way with upgrades for F1 Spanish GP

Mercedes has brought the most performance upgrades of all the leading Formula 1 teams for this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.

The Brackley-based squad has introduced two changes to its floor, including a reprofiled inboard fence, as well as a reprofiled mainplane of its rear wing.

It has also ditched its nascent rear suspension, introduced at Imola, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli confirming yesterday that has been sent back to HQ for refinements.

Both Ferrari and Red Bull have brought revisions to their front wings that work in compliance with the new FIA technical directive on flexi-wings.

Title-leaders McLaren have chosen to bring no new parts to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the only team to do so.

Alpine has opted for two changes to its floor, that being of a change in its shape and a reprofiled fence.

Racing Bulls is using changes to its front wing endplate and nose in a bid to help flow conditioning, with Williams following suit.

Sauber has introduced changes to its front wing endplate, floor and engine cover in a bid to improve local load, with Haas opting to make only slight changes to its front wing to ensure compliance with the new TD.
