Lewis Hamilton says he has multiple film projects in the pipeline after making his producing debut on the upcoming Formula 1 movie.

The Ferrari driver was among the 18 drivers who attended the private screening of the upcoming film titled ‘F1: The Movie’, which stars Brad Pitt as fictional racer Sonny Hayes, making a comeback with the team APXGP.

Hamilton, who served as a producer on the project through his own company, Dawn Apollo Films, was closely involved in ensuring the film’s authenticity.

Speaking ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton revealed he is already developing several new projects — including animations and documentaries — following his first major step into the film industry.

“I’ve never done it before, but I’ve got these concepts, these ideas that I’ve come up with for the movies,” he told media including Motorsport Week.

“At least two of them will be animations, and one of them is already in the phase of the first part of the script already, so it’s exciting.

“Then there’ll be movie documentaries, there’ll be… mostly movies.”

The 40-year-old expressed immense pride in seeing his production company appear on the screen.

“When you watch the movie, at the beginning we see all the different logos of the different production houses, and my one comes up, which is Dawn Apollo, it was amazing to see that,” he added.

“Then quite early on in the film, it starts telling us who produced the movie, and it came up with my name, and I was like, oh my god, this is crazy.”

Hamilton on blending authenticity and Hollywood in the F1 movie

Asked for his overall impression of the finished product, Hamilton described the experience as both “really interesting and incredible”, highlighting the opportunity to collaborate with director Joe Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer while gaining insight into the filmmaking process.

“From writing the first script to the first 30 pages, to then see it build into a story and then get to work with the writers on trying to make sure it’s as authentic [as possible],” he said.

“Then to think that it’s finally here after all the work that’s gone on, and having Hans [Zimmer] come on board — I’m a huge fan of his.”

The ex-Mercedes driver also stated that he was anxious as to how the other drivers would perceive the film.

“I’ve got all the drivers there and I was sat in the middle and I was nervous,” Hamilton explained.

“I was seeing it for the first time and it was great to look around and see some of the reactions from particularly the drivers.

“I really care what the drivers think and I wanted them to think highly of it.”

Hamilton was eager to hear honest feedback, knowing there might be small inaccuracies.

He acknowledged: “I must do after this, like, welcome your honest opinions about it, because for sure there’s parts where the timing may be off on a strategy stop or whatever it might be.

“But I think the great thing is the sound is great, the image is incredible.

“It’s something that’s never been done before, so it’s something I’m really proud of.”
