Lewis Hamilton says he 'could not be more excited' for the 2025 F1 season with Ferrari

The seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton says he is ready to “embrace the change” with Ferrari as he prepares to debut with his new team in 2025.

Hamilton officially joined Ferrari on Wednesday after announcing in February of 2024 that he would be leaving Mercedes following 12 seasons together.

The British driver won six of his seven World Championships with the Silver Arrows after he departed McLaren in 2012.

After a year full of ups and downs, that was lifted by the joy of winning his home Grand Prix for a record ninth time, the 39-year-old will pair up with Charles Leclerc.

In his first public announcement since officially becoming a Ferrari driver, Hamilton took to LinkedIn to speak of the next exciting chapter of his motor racing career.

“I could not be more excited for the year ahead,” he said.

“Moving to Scuderia Ferrari, there’s a lot to reflect on.

“To anyone considering their next move in 2025: embrace the change.

“Whether you’re switching industries, learning a new skill, or even just taking on new challenges, remember that reinvention is powerful.

“Your next opportunity is always within reach.

“Here’s to 2025 – a year of embracing new opportunities, staying hungry, and driving forward with purpose.

“Let’s make it one to remember: Andiamo.”

Will it be a record-breaking eighth title for the Brit?

Silverstone, Spa and Las Vegas were the highlights for Hamilton in 2024 – they proved that he still possesses the speed to win races and fight at the sharp end.

However, the races in Qatar and Brazil will be quickly forgotten as they truly dented the confidence of the ex-Mercedes driver.

So much so that after a disappointing Sprint Qualifying in Qatar, Hamilton expressed his belief that he was “definitely not fast anymore”.

However, Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur defended his new driver by arguing: “Have a look at the 50 laps that he did in Vegas.

“Starting P10, finishing on the gearbox of [George] Russell [in a Mercedes 1-2], I’m not worried at all.”

With over 100 wins and 100 pole positions, a fresh start could be the key to igniting that fire in his stomach to stride towards a glorious eighth Drivers’ Title.
