Sergio Perez has responded to his immediate departure from Red Bull which means he will no longer partake in the 2025 Formula 1 campaign.
21 points across the final 10 races in the 2024 season was enough for Red Bull to negotiate a way out of the multi-year contract extension it handed Perez in June.
On Wednesday, Red Bull released a statement confirming the two parties would part ways.
Moments prior to Red Bull’s announcement, Perez released a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) regarding his exit.
“After four incredible seasons together, Oracle Red Bull Racing and Sergio Perez have reached an agreement to part ways,” the Mexican’s statement began.
“During this time Checo played a crucial role in securing multiple Grand Prix wins, countless podium finishes, and two Constructors’ World Championships, significantly contributing to the Team’s most successful era in Formula 1.”
The statement continued, including direct quotes from the man himself.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing Team,” said Perez.
“Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I’ll always cherish the successes we achieved together.
“We broke records, reached remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way.
“A big thank you to every person in the Team from the management, engineers and mechanics, catering, hospitality, kitchen, marketing and communications, as well as everyone at Milton Keynes, I wish you all the best for the future.
“It has also been an honour to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years and to share in our success.
“A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for your unwavering support every day. We’ll meet again soon. And remember…Never give up.”
Perez pays further Red Bull farewell on Instagram
Perez’ farewell to Red Bull spread to further social media outlets.
The Mexican posted an Instagram highlight reel, which began with his maiden F1 victory in the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix with Racing Point, just weeks before his future in F1 looked doomed.
That win with Racing Point did enough to convince Red Bull to save Perez’s career in 2021 and his video tribute included a voiceover.
“Four years ago an opportunity came along that would change my life,” said Perez.
“In a moment of confusion and frustration came an opportunity that would transform my career.
“Hand in hand with my first victory, I joined Red Bull.
“I arrived with all of the illusion of returning the team to the top. And make my flag fly on the podium.
“It wasn’t easy, but with hard work and determination, the results came.

“We were champions. Mexico sang with our first podium at home. And of course, we conquered Monaco.
“We built history with our own hands.
“Today it’s time to thank Red Bull and move on.

“On a personal note, it’s time to slow down for the first time in my life. But only for a few corners until we know what our next journey is.
“To all of you who have been with me, I thank you always and no matter how hard your dreams may seem, always dare to believe.
“The best is always yet to come. We will meet again. Never give up.”
