The Yamaha MotoGP team has announced a multi-year title sponsorship agreement with energy drinks company Monster Energy beginning in 2019.
Yamaha has run with title sponsor Movistar since the 2014 season, but this deal with the Spanish television company ends at the conclusion of this year, with Movistar's current rights agreement with Dorna to broadcast MotoGP also expiring in 2018.
Monster is currently Yamaha's satellite outfit Tech3's title sponsor, though the French team will ditch it in favour of Red Bull next year as part of its tie-up with Austrian manufacturer KTM.
The Energy drinks firm's logos have featured prominently on factory Yamahas since 2013, with both Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi Monster-backed athletes.
Yamaha team boss Lin Jarvis said of the deal with Monster: “We are delighted to have reached agreement with Monster Energy Company as the new Title Sponsor of our Factory MotoGP Team.
“The new partnership will provide Monster Energy with an even stronger presence in the MotoGP class – the pinnacle activity of the motorcycle racing world.
“With Monster Energy being a very dynamic brand that‘s extremely active all around the world, we expect that this collaboration will further enhance the exposure of both brands and also give us a great platform for marketing activities.
“The new Agreement also signifies the intention of Yamaha and Monster Energy to further strengthen our collaboration for our global on-road and off-road motorsports programmes.”
The Sepang International Circuit-run team, which will take over the place of Aspar as Yamaha's new satellite squad next year, is set to runs its M1's in Petronas colours.
Yamaha currently leads the teams' standings after last weekend's German Grand Prix, with Rossi and Vinales second and third in the championship, 46 and 56 points down on leader Marc Marquez.
