Lando Norris took the final pole position of the 2024 Formula 1 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a McLaren 1-2.

Oscar Piastri will line up from second as the advantage goes to the Woking-based outfit in the battle for the Constructors’ title.

Carlos Sainz rounds off the top three for Ferrari with his team-mate Charles Leclerc down the order after his Q2 exit.

Nico Hulkenberg qualified fourth in a stunning display by the Haas driver in his final outing for the team.

Max Verstappen was on provisional pole with his first lap but couldn’t improve on his second lap as he will start from fifth on Sunday.

Pierre Gasly qualified in sixth for Alpine and George Russell only managed to set a lap time good enough for seventh.

Fernando Alonso was in eighth and Valtteri Bottas managed to reach Q3 and qualify in ninth place.

Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull rounded off the top 10 and only made it through to Q1 after his initial deleted lap time was reinstated.

Lewis Hamilton was knocked out in Q1 in his final-ever qualifying session for Mercedes in 18th place.

Leclerc will start 19th on Sunday due to his 10-place grid penalty after the team was forced to use a new Energy Store, exceeding the limit of two allowed throughout a season.
