Toyota has announced their unchanged FIA World Endurance Championship driver lineup for the 2025 season across both of their GR010 Hypercars.

The recently crowned Hypercar Manufacturers’ champions will retain all six drivers across both of their #7 and #8 Hypercar entrants.

In the #7 GR010 Hybrid, team principal Kamui Kobayashi will continue with Mike Conway and Nyck de Vries.

Sebastien Buemi, their longest-serving driver since 2012, will co-drive the #8 GR010 Hybrid for a third season with Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa.

The #8 trio won two world championships together in addition to a Le Mans 24 Hours victory in 2022.

“We have a top driver line-up in both cars, and I am happy to be part of it again in 2025,” said Kobayashi.

“The team spirit and cooperation among all the drivers, and the team in general, grows with every race and every season.

“Thanks to the great support of everyone at Toyota, as well as our partners, we have enjoyed some good results this year, but we are determined to achieve more.

“Competing in the Hypercar category in WEC is a big challenge and we are fighting against very strong competition, but as a team we continuously push ourselves to perform even better at every event.

“I expect this to continue next season, with a consistent line-up of drivers who understand how to work together – as a driver crew, as team members and as part of the Toyota family – to succeed in endurance racing.

“I know the whole team is excited by the challenge in 2025.”

Toyota’s chase for success in 2024

Toyota decided not to follow Porsche Penske’s two-driver approach for most of the 2025 season.

The Japanese manufacturer has run their Hypercar programme since the first season in 2021 in which the class officially succeeded LMP1.

During the 2024 season, they fought for the drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships against the likes of Porsche Penske and Ferrari AF Corse.

Whilst unable to catch the #6 Porsche Penske crew, their sublime victory at the 8 Hours of Bahrain season finale won them manufacturers’ title glory by just two points on Porsche.

Toyota secured three race victories having won all the Hypercar championships before Porsche Penske provided a robust challenge this year.

With exception to Mike Conway’s absence from Le Mans due to a cycling injury, Toyota’s driver lineup has undergone little change over recent years with de Vries joining the #7 Toyota for 2024.
