American Express and Formula 1 have announced a new multi-year global sponsorship that will increase Amex’s presence at F1 races.

As the first regional partner of F1 in the Americas, American Express has sponsored races in Montreal, Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo and Las Vegas.

The company will now act as an Official Partner of F1 for over 20 races expanding its involvement in the sport globally.

The initial partnership between F1 and Amex was announced back in October of last year before the 2023 United States Grand Prix.

Elizabeth Rutledge, the Chief Marketing Officer of American Express, said in a press release by Amex: “We are thrilled to expand our relationship with Formula 1, building on the strong momentum of the sponsorship in the Americas over the past year.

“This demonstrates yet another way we are continuously enhancing the value of American Express Membership for Card Members around the world.

“With more than 300 million fans worldwide age 18-34, F1 continues to grow in popularity and as a passion area for Millennials and Gen Z – American Express’ fastest growing customer segment.”

Amex to expand on partnership with F1 in Americas

As part of the deal, Amex will also continue to be an Official Partner of F1 Academy, showing its support for women on and off the track as one of the early brand sponsors outside the motorsports category of F1’s all-female racing series throughout 2024.

Emily Prazer, the Chief Commercial Officer of F1, said: “American Express has been a fantastic partner to Formula 1 in the Americas and as a supporter of F1 Academy, and I’m delighted that they have chosen to expand their relationship with us to become an Official Partner.

“We look forward to working with Amex to enhance the experience of Card Members at our races and showcasing Amex perks to our existing fans everywhere we race.”

The American bank company has provided fan experiences at select F1 Grands Prixs and will continue to do so, in this new deal, at more races than before.

Amex will be sponsoring this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix where Lando Norris will be hoping to chase down the gap between himself and Max Verstappen in the Drivers’ Standings.
