There were battles up and down the field in the US GP Sprint race

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen controlled proceedings throughout to convert pole position into the Sprint race win at Formula 1‘s United States Grand Prix.

Lando Norris was poised to come home in second behind his title rival, but a late mistake saw him drop behind Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari into third place.

Charles Leclerc in the sister Ferrari was fourth. George Russell, who started on the front row, slipped two places to fifth, with Lewis Hamilton in sixth.

The Haas drivers rounded out the top eight and the points-scoring positions, Kevin Magnussen heading team-mate Nico Hulkenberg in Austin, Texas.
