The Mercedes AMG Formula 1 Team has unveiled a special one-off livery to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its technical and title partner, Petronas.

The team will run the livery, which is primarily ‘Petronas green’, during this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix.

The Malaysian petrochemicals company has been a long-time sponsor and partner of the F1 team, with its headquarters based in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.

“Our partnership with Petronas is our longest standing and still going strong, and for any company to reach its 50th anniversary is an incredible milestone,” said Mercedes F1 team boss Toto Wolff.

“This livery is therefore not only a celebration of their 50th anniversary, but a reflection of Petronas’ importance in our team’s story and honours our journey together.”

Drivers excited for Singapore

Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are both excited to race the livery this weekend as part of further plans to celebrate Petronas, which will include a visit to Kuala Lumpur after the grand prix.

“The livery looks incredible. I can’t wait to see it on the car in the garage and then to get behind-the-wheel on Friday,” said Hamilton.

“It’s a privilege to celebrate this milestone, and our journey together, at such an important race.”

Russell added: “The design looks brilliant and is a fantastic tribute to such a milestone achievement.

“It is great to be able to recognise the importance of our relationship at the race closest to their home.”
