Matt Campbell topped the timing sheets for Porsche in free practice 1 at the Circuit of the Americas, for the next round of the FIA World Endurance Championships.

The Australian, in the #5 Porsche 963, set a 1:53.574 to go quickest, almost half a second quicker than Robert Kubica in the satellite #83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P. Oliver Rasmussen, in the #38 JOTA Porsche 963, was third, just 0.017 slower than Kubica.

The session was extended by 5 minutes due to two disruptions. One was a technical issue in race control after 5 minutes, which caused a red flag, and the other was due to a full course yellow, which was needed to retrieve the #60 Lamborghini Iron Lynx Huracan GT3 machine.

The Porsches and Ferraris were the pick of the session. Fourth and fifth were the two factory #50 and #51 Ferraris, with the cars’ fastest laps by Antonio Fuoco and Antonio Giovinazzi respectively.
