Charles Leclerc converted pole position to end his long wait to take victory in the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

A tense race dictated by tyre management amid limited overtaking saw McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Leclerc’s Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz complete the podium.

Lando Norris just missed out on the rostrum in fourth whilst Mercedes’ George Russell rounded out the top five.

Max Verstappen’s late race charge up to Russell was to no avail as he finished sixth with Lewis Hamilton close behind in seventh.

Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg retired on the opening lap after getting tangled in a three-car crash.

Ocon also retired on Lap 1 after sustaining damage with his opportunistic move on his Alpine team-mate Gasly.
