F1 hopes for clarity on Horner investigation at ‘earliest opportunity’

Horner accepts it’s ‘inevitable’ that Red Bull will be caught

Christian Horner (GBR) Red Bull Racing Team Principal. 25.08.2023. Formula 1 World Championship, Rd 14, Dutch Grand Prix, Zandvoort, Netherlands, Practice Day.

Formula 1 hopes the investigation into allegations made against Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner can be concluded at the “earliest opportunity”.

Horner is currently the subject of an investigation from Red Bull’s parent company following accusations of alleged inappropriate behaviour against a colleague.

The Red Bull boss, who attended a hearing with an external barrister last week in London, has denied the allegations and claimed the F1 team remains “united”.

Horner has continued to manage his responsibilities at the helm of Red Bull, a role he has overseen since its inception in 2005, while the investigation continues.

Horner was present at Red Bull’s Milton Keynes base last week as the Austrian outfit unveiled its 2024 challenger, the RB20, and did conduct his various media duties.

It remains unclear whether the investigation into Horner’s alleged actions will be settled before pre-season testing ahead of the season begins in Bahrain next week.

However, with the opening race of a record 24-round campaign taking place in less than two weeks, F1 has stated it would be ideal for the matter to be resolved soon.

“We have noted Red Bull has instigated an independent investigation into internal allegations at Red Bull Racing,” F1’s statement began.

“We hope [the] matter will be clarified at [the] earliest opportunity, after a fair & thorough process. Will not comment further at this time”

F1’s comments come after Ford, who has partnered with Red Bull to collaborate on the 2026 engine rules, said it expects “high standards of behaviour” from its partners.
