Red Bull has confirmed that Formula 1 Team Principal Christian Horner is the subject of an internal investigation regarding alleged “inappropriate behaviour”.

The Dutch newspaper outlet De Telegraaf has published that senior management within Red Bull is aware of the allegations made by an employee about Horner.

A spokesperson for the Austrian outfit has confirmed that an inquiry into the accusations is ongoing, while Horner is said to have denied the claims against his name.

“After the company was made aware of certain recent allegations, an independent investigation was launched,” De Telegraaf was told when it contacted Red Bull.

“This process, which is already ongoing, is being carried out by an external, specialised lawyer. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practical. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”

Horner has since dismissed any wrongdoing on his part to the same publication that broke the original story, stating: “I completely deny these claims”.

The investigation comes 10 days before the launch of Red Bull’s 2024 F1 car, the RB20, as the team gears up towards its bid to defend the titles it retained last season.

Horner is F1’s longest-serving Team Principal having held the reigns at Red Bull since its inaugural season of competition in 2005 when it took over Jaguar.

Under Horner’s guidance, the Austrian outfit has delivered seven Drivers’ titles and a further six Constructors’ Championships, including both over the past two seasons.
