Dennis Hauger will remain with MP Motorsport for the 2024 Formula 2 campaign, making the Dutch outfit the first to complete its driver line-up for next season.

2024 will be Hauger’s third season in the series and his second with MP after a maiden foray with Prema in 2022.

He will partner Williams junior and Formula 3 graduate Franco Colapinto, who will also make his Formula 1 testing debut with the Grove outfit in Abu Dhabi.

To date, the Norwegian driver has claimed four race victories in the category alongside eight podiums, four of which have come in 2023 including two Sprint wins.

Last month, it was announced that Hauger will part ways with the Red Bull Junior Team at the end of the 2023 season after spending six years in the development programme.

“I’m really happy to stay with MP Motorsport for another season of FIA Formula 2,” Hauger has said of the announcement.

“I’m truly looking forward to the challenge of setting up a winning new F2 car, as we aim to build on the experience we gained as a team working together in 2023.

“I welcome Franco as my new teammate – he’s a familiar face to MP too, and that can only be to our advantage in the transitional winter period while getting to grips with the new car.”

MP Motorsport Team Principal Sander Dorsman added that Hauger’s wealth of F2 experience will provide a vital boost to the team as it gets to grips with the brand new Dallara-Mechachrome chassis which arrives for next season, marking a new era for the championship.

“We are delighted that Dennis has decided to continue with us in the new season. He’s quick, with a cool and smart head on his shoulders,” Dorsman stated.

“His feedback will help us in the development race with the new car as we move into a new era of FIA Formula 2.

“With Dennis and Franco, we have two known quantities in our top team on the single-seater ladder. Having signed both at a very early stage will surely contribute to our getting up to speed as soon as we can.”

The 2021 F3 champion currently sits eighth in the F2 standings with one round remaining in Abu Dhabi, where he will look to cement an improvement of his 2022 standing of 10th.

He enters the final round tied on points with fellow former Red Bull prospect Richard Verschoor.
