Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner accepts it is “inevitable” that the side will be caught at some stage in Formula 1.
After scooping the Drivers’ title with Max Verstappen in 2021, Red Bull proceeded to secure both championships last year upon a huge overhaul to the technical regulations.
Whilst Ferrari began the year with the most competitive package on the grid, Red Bull managed to out-develop all its rivals, winning 10 of the remaining 11 rounds in 2022.
The Austrian outfit’s advantage over the rest has extended further this year, with the team’s evolutionary RB19 car storming to victory at all 14 races to be held to this point.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton expressed doubts last month about whether Red Bull can be beaten before the technical rules are next changed in 2026.
However, Horner has downplayed their comments, asserting that it’s a “guarantee” Red Bull will be caught at some stage.
“One day we’re going to get beaten. That’s inevitable and guaranteed. It’s just a question of when,” Horner said. “Obviously we want to make the ‘when’ as far away as we can.
“With every weekend that goes past, there becomes more expectation to keep this amazing run of results.
“To think we’ve won all 14 grands prix [this year]. 24 of the last 25, and we’ve managed to win as a team. It’s quite incredible that we’ve managed to keep this momentum going.”
Verstappen’s triumph in the Italian Grand Prix ensured Red Bull departed the European leg of the calendar still unbeaten, leaving the team needing eight more wins to become the first unbeaten side in F1 history.
The Dutchman set a new all-time F1 record by notching his 10th consecutive victory, while Sergio Perez finished second to deliver Red Bull’s first-ever 1-2 finish at Monza.
Red Bull’s advantage over second-place Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship now stands at an unbelievable 278 points. Meanwhile, Verstappen is 144 points clear of Perez in the Drivers’ standings.
