The FIA has set a date to hear McLaren’s right of review over Lando Norris’ penalty at the Canadian Grand Prix.
McLaren will meet the FIA on Sunday, July 2 at 09:30 local time in Austria.
The Woking-based squad is seeking to overturn the penalty that denied it points in Montreal two weeks ago.
Norris was found guilty of “unsportsmanlike behaviour” under a Safety Car period, as he drove slowly to create a gap to team-mate Oscar Piastri in front as McLaren double stacked its cars in the pit lane.
Norris crossed the finish line in ninth place but was shuffled outside of the top 10 after the chequered flag.
McLaren confirmed on Friday evening that it would exercise the right of review procedure.
A representative from the Williams team will also be present at the hearing.
The stewards highlighted that the hearing will be in two parts. The first will be to listen to evidence to determine if there is a “significant and relevant new element which was unavailable to the party seeking the review at the time of the decision concerned”.
If this is the case, a second hearing will be scheduled at a later date to determine if the penalty stands or not.
Should McLaren be successful, it would mean valuable points amid a difficult season for the team.
