Sergio Perez says he “knows what he has to do” to return to form after a sequence of off-colour performances for the Red Bull driver.

Perez claimed victory in two of the opening four rounds, as well as two pole positions, but was beaten to the win by the recovering Max Verstappen in Miami.

Perez crashed in Q1 in Monaco, from which he was unable to climb into the top 10, and was eliminated in Q2 in Spain, going on to take fourth in the race.

The recent results have left Perez 53 points behind team-mate Verstappen in the championship.

“I am looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend,” said Perez.

“I have been in Milton Keynes since the Spanish GP, working hard with my team and we have put in a lot of good work and had some very constructive conversations.

“I know what I must do to get back to the form I am capable of and as a team we know how to get the car into a window where I will perform best.

“Getting through moments like this, it’s more important than ever to work as a team and we will all support each other to push for the win in Canada.

“I have a fantastic car and it’s always exciting to get behind the wheel, I must be massively consistent in Montreal and have a complete weekend.”

Perez retired from last year’s race in Montreal due to a gearbox failure and has one career podium at the track, achieved in 2012.
