Following the success of Netflix’s Drive to Survive, Formula 1 will make the jump to scripted television, and is set to produce a “a family drama series set in the high-stakes world of motor racing.”

One, as the show will be known, will be F1’s first officially sanctioned scripted series, as reported by Deadline.

The show is set to focus on “the tumultuous ascension of a fictitious family-owned Formula 1 team as it contends with fierce personalities, ever-changing rivals, and multi-million-dollar stakes” and is set to “blend fiction with the real-world of F1.”

English actress Felicity Jones, best known for starring in the Star Wars movie Rogue One, is set to star and produce, with F1 also taking up a producing role in the project.

Jones said: “It is an honour to be part of this unique and exciting partnership with Formula 1.

“The high stakes world of F1 continually delivers edge-of-your-seat drama and to have the opportunity to create a show based in this world is a thrilling prospect.”

Bedrock Entertainment’s Tony To, who will serve as executive producer on the project, added: “One has been driven by our collective passions to tell the story of the characters who inhabit this unique world and what happens behind the scenes of the great and complex sport, while capturing the massive scope and scale of F1.”

The project is yet to start production, with a release date to be announced at a later stage.

One won’t be the only Hollywood treatment given to F1, with a yet-to-be titled movie produced by Lewis Hamilton and starring actor Brad Pitt set to hit the big screens as well.
