After the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix due to the devastating floodings in the area, Formula 1 donated €1 million to the Region’s Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection.
Now, F1 Authentics will be working together with F1, Pirelli, Ferrari Trento, and the Automobile Club d’Italia and Formula Imola to auction off several items and raise money to aid the stricken region.
The extreme flooding ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which was set to take place from 19-21 May, resulted in F1 calling off the event on Wednesday ahead of the Grand Prix, after discussions took place with local authorities as well as the promoter.
The decision to call off the race was widely supported by teams and drivers, and would allow local emergency workers to focus on the job at hand. In support of this, F1 made a donation of €1 million, with food and water from the Paddock Club, teams, hospitality, and circuit getting donated as well.
In addition to this, several exclusive items that were meant for the race weekend have been donated to F1 Authentics. These items will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to those affected by the disaster.
Pirelli has donated the Pole Position Award, which is usually signed by the pole sitter, but has been signed for the occasion by all 20 drivers on the grid.
Furthermore, Ferrari Trento donated the official podium bottle of sparkling wine that would traditionally be used during the podium celebrations, which will also be signed by all the drivers.
Lastly, Automobile Club d’Italia and Formula Imola are donating the four trophies that were set to be handed out to the top 3 drivers as well as the winning constructor.
The auction opened on Saturday and is set to run until 6 June, with all items up as individual listings.
