F1 teams reveal upgrades for Miami race weekend

The fifth round of the 2023 Formula 1 campaign sees the sport head to Miami for the second event staged around the Hard Rock Stadium.

Some minor upgrades have been unveiled for the race weekend across the grid, but the amount of new parts is limited compared to European rounds.

As it is a flyway event, while also being back-to-back with Baku’s round, it is likely that more sizeable upgrades will be introduced at the upcoming European rounds starting from Imola in two weeks’ time.

Reigning World Champions Red Bull, as well as Mercedes, Alpine, McLaren and Williams, have not listed any new parts for the race.

Ferrari, however, has detailed a new floor component which aims to improve aerodynamic performance and car efficiency.

Further down the grid, Alfa Romeo has an optional beam wing for the race weekend which will provide a different aerodynamic solution around Miami if needed.

Aston Martin, who will be aiming to return to the podium this weekend, has introduced circuit-specific cooling lourves, the use of which will be dependent on conditions.

Haas’ floor upgrade was hailed by Kevin Magnussen in the build-up to the weekend, who highlighted that the team can now bring frequent minor upgrades, as well as sizeable ones, to races having previously relied on spaced-out major updates.

The US-based team has stated that the “geometry of the surface that control the expansion of the floor has been modified” for the weekend.

Finally, AlphaTauri has brought an updated front wing that sees raised tips elements and additional small winglets to the inboard side of the endplate, while the sidepod inlet has received an update through an aerofoil section below the mirror body, as well as an extra winglet added to the outboard mirror stay.
