Alfa Romeo has become the first team to complete a shakedown of its 2023 Formula 1 challenger.
The C43, which was presented in Switzerland on Tuesday, made its on-track debut at Spanish Grand Prix venue Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday.
Formula 1 teams are permitted two ‘filming days’ per year at which promotional material is gathered, with running restricted to 100km.
Race drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu both sampled the C43 and Alfa Romeo described the running as successful.
The outfit will remain at the circuit on Saturday for its second permitted filming day of the year, with reserve driver Théo Pourchaire due to join Bottas and Zhou.
“The debut of our C43 is a pivotal moment in our season: it marks the start of our on-track campaign and really drives home how close the season is,” said Alfa Romeo technical chief Jan Monchaux.
“Today was important to ensure everything is in place, not just with the car but also with the wider team, ahead of what is going to be a crucial start of the championship.
“We have to thank everyone who worked on the car, and of course also our partners Ferrari, for getting us here. We are ready for testing and we can’t wait to get to work in Bahrain.”
Haas is also due to be in action on Saturday with the VF-23 to be shaken down at Silverstone.
Williams is scheduled to run its FW45 at the venue on Monday.
