Esteban Ocon and Haas have officially confirmed they will end their partnership at the end of the Formula 1 2026 season.
The announcement comes following weeks of speculation surrounding the Frenchman’s future. Ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last week, Ocon labelled himself as a ‘free agent ‘, prompting many to believe an official announcement was imminent.
The announcement marks the end of a bittersweet chapter for Ocon, who joined the team following his stint with Alpine. Over the past two seasons, the 30-year-old has continued to impress many across the grid. But in recent months, Ocon has been under a microscope, as the Frenchman has struggled to match the performances of his team-mate Ollie Bearman.
Haas releases statement confirming Esteban Ocon departure
Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu reflected on Ocon’s accomplishments for the team. Extending his gratitude for the Grand Prix winner’s accomplishments and professionalism throughout his time with the team.
“I’d like to thank Esteban for everything he’s contributed to the team since joining us in 2025,” Komatsu said in a statemnet via Haas.
“His professionalism and commitment have proved valuable as we continue to grow as an organisation. Together this year we tackled the challenge of a major regulation change. Esteban’s driving experience and input were significant as we’ve worked hard to develop the VF-26 across the season.
“There’s still plenty of racing ahead. And our focus remains on working together to maximize every opportunity through to the final race of the year.”
It is unclear at this stage whether Ocon will remain a part of the F1 grid for the 2027 season. But with an outstanding resume and several seats yet to be confirmed, the Frenchman may not be saying farewell just yet.
