Mahindra Racing has confirmed an unchanged driver lineup for the upcoming 2026/27 FIA Formula E World Championship, retaining both Edoardo Mortara and Nyck de Vries into the new GEN4 era.
The decision secures critical stability for the Banbury-based squad following a landmark 2025/26 campaign.
De Vries and Mortara propelled Mahindra to third in the Teams’ Championship with a 252-point tally, securing two victories, 10 podiums, and six pole positions along the way.
The nature of the announcement comes with some amusement, as the Indian marque posting a ‘thank you’ video on its social media platforms on Monday, indicating the duo were set to leave the team, sparking widespread messages of incredulity from some fans.
High praise for Mahindra
The upcoming Season 13 marks a historic milestone for Mortara.
Entering his tenth Formula E season, the Swiss-Italian driver becomes the only competitor on the grid to race across all four technological generations of the championship.
“I’m really happy to continue with the team,” Mortara said.
“Our collaboration over the past three seasons has been very positive, with results steadily improving along the way. Entering my tenth Formula E season, we know the year ahead will be a real challenge, especially on the technical side, with so much that is new.”
De Vries, the 2020/21 Formula E World Champion, enters his fourth consecutive season with Mahindra, having taken two victories during their 2025/26 run.
“The past three years with Mahindra Racing have been a very rewarding journey,” De Vries added.
“Finishing third in the Teams’ Championship last season was a great reward for all the hard work everyone across the team has put in.
“I’m very happy to continue with Mahindra Racing as we enter the GEN4 era.”
Mahindra Racing CEO and Team Principal Frederic Bertrand emphasised that driver continuity will be a crucial asset as the team masters the faster, all-new GEN4 machinery.
“Over the past three seasons, we have built trust, shared reference points and a strong way of working together,” Bertrand explained.
“That continuity will be important as Formula E enters the GEN4 era. Season 13 will demand a steep learning curve from the whole team.”
The GEN4 era officially kicks off with official pre-season testing at Jarama, Spain, from November 16–20, 2026, ahead of the season-opening Jeddah E-Prix in December.
