After a short delay for thunderstorms to clear the area, IMSA held its qualifying session at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon.
The two GT classes were scheduled to take to the track first, but ultimately they were forced to line up by points instead.
A busy schedule at IMS included multiple other support series, and there was a need to get their races in before darkness arrived.
As such, the #1 Paul Miller Racing BMW earned pole for the GTD Pro class on account of currently sitting in the points lead.
Neil Verhagen and Connor De Phillippi will race from the most advantageous position on Sunday, and will hope to increase their points lead.
Lining up alongside on the front row of the GT classes will be the #3 Pratt Miller Corvette.
The second Corvette will start in third position, while the #9 Pfaff Lamborghini will start in fourth.
Taking pole in GTD was the #12 Vasser Sullivan Racing Lexus, with the Aaron Telitz and Ben Pedersen hoping to convert the top spot into the strong finish.
The #13 Chevy Corvette will line up in second place, with the #16 Ford Mustang and the #27 Aston Martin Vantage filling the second row of the class.
The Wright Motorsports Porsche will line up at the tail end of the field, and Adam Adelson and Callum Ilott looking to move forward when the green flag drops.
Drivers will be back on track for a 2 hour 40 minutes race on Sunday, with the green flag flying just past 3:00 PM central time.
