Jake Dennis clinched pole position for the 2026 Formula E Tokyo E-Prix after snatching the advantage from Edoardo Mortara in the final sector of their head-to-head duel, posting a winning time of 1:11.863.
Mortara had previously dominated the practice sessions and set the pace through the early knockout stages, including a blistering 1:11.889 in his Semi-Final victory over Antonio Felix da Costa.
The Qualifying session delivered major championship drama early on as title leader Pascal Wehrlein, home favoruites Nissan, and Jaguar’s Mitch Evans all suffered premature eliminations in the group phase.
Semi-Final 1 was halted by a heavy crash for Nico Mueller, whose Porsche sustained severe damage, granting Dennis a path to the final once he completed a timed lap.
Ultimately, Dennis edged out Mortara by just 0.052 seconds in the final battle to claim the extra three championship points and top spot on the grid.
