Caio Collet is one of three rookie IndyCar drivers this year, and he has a couple options available to him for next season.
The 24-yaer-old Brazilian finished second in the IndyNXT championship last year, and moved up into IndyCar with AJ Foyt Racing.
He has held his own, but still has not managed to earn a top 10 finish with two thirds of the season now complete.
Regardless, Collet has impressed the paddock with his adaptability, and he is evaluating his options with a few different open seats for his sophomore season.
“Focus is on my season right now,” said Collet. “We still have a lot to accomplish through the end of the year. The rookie championship is our goal, and we are behind so for me it is just trying to do my best on track.
“We have a couple options for next year, but I’m happy to be where I am and grateful to AJ Foyt Racing for the opportunity.
“It’s always nice to have options. I’m grateful and happy to be at AJ Foyt, they’ve done a good job with me and given me the opportunity to be in IndyCar.
“Right now I’m just trying to focus on everything I can do on track and see how things play out.”
Collet’s best finish of the season was during the most recent event at Mid-Ohio, where he scored an 11th place finish.
He nearly secured a podium at World Wide Technology Raceway when he placed himself in second position when the race was red flagged for rain.
The rain ultimately cleared, however, which forced him to take an unscheduled stop for fuel and dropped him down the order.
Collet sits second in the rookie points standings, 16 points adrift of last year’s IndyNXT champion Dennis Hauger.
