Saturday afternoon at Nashville Superspeedway was dedicated to IndyCar qualifying, with each driver taking a single, two-lap attempt to set the grid.
The driver that was able to cruise the fastest around the 1.33-mile oval was Kyle Kirkwood, completing his laps in 47.5885 seconds at an average speed of 196.852 MPH
Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin were nearly as quick, and filled the second and third positions on the grid respectively.

Graham Rahal was just about to pull out to take his laps when the team discovered a fuel pump issue. Instead of taking to the track, the crew pushed his car back down pit lane.
David Malukas also failed to complete a run because he was still being evaluated from a hard crash earlier in the day. He was released to complete in practice later in the day, but will have to start from the back of the pack with no time set in qualifying.
Sunday’s 400-mile race takes place just after the World Cup final, with the green flag planned for around 4:30 PM central time.
