In a historic turn of events, Lucas di Grassi claimed victory for Lola Yamaha ABT at the second race of the Shanghai E-Prix after surging from 20th on the grid to lead a stunning recovery drive.
He was joined by fellow comeback stars Jean-Eric Vergne and Joel Eriksson, who also surged through the pack after starting from the final rows.
The race, extended to 28 laps, was marked by intense midfield action and multiple neutralisations, including a Full Course Yellow that effectively reset the field in the final stages.
This allowed the drivers who had preserved their energy effectively to capitalise on the restart of the Shanghai E-Prix.
While the race remained tightly contested throughout, the late-stage strategic maneuvers ultimately favoured those who had fought their way through from the bottom of the order.
