Ford Racing announce the remaining drivers for their Hypercar programme for 2027 WEC debut. In addition to the already announced Mike Rockenfeller, Logan Sargeant, and Sebastian Priaulx, the second american manufacturer joining the top class will have Matt Campbell, Tom Blomqvist, and Nick Yelloly to complete their roster.
Ford Racing has announced its three remaining drivers ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in which they will debut their Hypercar next season. Matt Campbell, who will leave Porsche fully after a decade, along with current Acura drivers Nick Yelloly and Tom Blomqvist, will finish up the roster.
Furthermore, information about the stage of development has been shared, with the date of expected roll-out being 5th of August.
While rumours of Campbell joining Ford have been around for months, Yelloly and Blomqvist are more recent, as a result of Acura announcing their withdrawal from IMSA at the end of this season.
“Obviously, when the news came about of my current program now in the States with Acura, pulling out at the end of the season obviously meant I had to go looking for new opportunities.,” said Tom Blomqvist.
“And obviously, I was aware of Ford coming into the sport, Acura was one of the early targets for me. I thought, being a new program, obviously with Ford, with its history here at Le Mans, I thought they were going to really try and do things properly. And obviously, I thought a starting point for me, or at least to help me, was I had a ton of experience with the Oreca over in the States, three, four years now with that car.
“So a ton of knowledge and information and just that experience with the LMDh car, I think, even though obviously racing in IMSA, but at the end of the day, it’s kind of the same thing.”
