Nicolo Bulega believes that not securing a 2027 MotoGP ride wouldn’t be particularly disappointing for him.
The Italian secured three wins at the Assen WorldSBK round, extending his streak to nine consecutive victories in 2026 and 13 including results from 2025.
In all three races in the Netherlands, Bulega finished ahead of team-mate Iker Lecuona in second and Sam Lowes in third for Marc VDS Ducati.
Amid rumours that a potential MotoGP seat may no longer be available, Bulega offered an update on whether he could get the nod ahead of the 2027 regulations.
“My manager [Alberto Martinelli] will go to Jerez,” shared Bulega to media, including Motorsport Week in Assen.
“He will talk to MotoGP teams, and then we will see in Balaton, maybe I can tell you something more.
“I don’t know if it’s very difficult, because there are not a lot of bikes and many very good riders.
“So, in that moment, I have to be also lucky that some positions and some riders go where I want. So we will see.”
Bulega will begin testing Ducati’s 850cc bike at Mugello on May 5, two days after the fourth WorldSBK round at Balaton Park, where he hopes to have a clear answer on his future.

Sam Lowes believes Nicolo Bulega ‘deserves’ MotoGP seat
Former MotoGP rider Lowes believes Bulega fully deserves a MotoGP seat opportunity, citing that he’s “in the right place at the right time.”
The factory Ducati rider has been dominant since Toprak Razgatlioglu’s switch to MotoGP, with the Lincolnshire rider suggesting he should be given a chance at the next level.
“Now we’re seeing a rider who always had this potential,” shared Lowes.
“Nicolo rides with a lot of confidence and gives it his all. When you have the best bike with one of the best riders on it, this is what you get.
“He couldn’t show his true potential in other classes. But he made it to the podium in Moto3, and you don’t achieve that unless you have something special.
“He came up alongside the Fabios [Quartararo and Di Giannantonio] and rode at the same level. But this game also has a lot to do with mental aspects and opportunities.
“He’s showing us now what he’s capable of and is in the right place at the right time, and he deserves it.
“For me, he belongs in the category of top riders, of which there are only a few. When someone like that is on the best bike, he wins.”
