Nicolo Bulega led from start to finish en route to another dominant performance in the Assen WorldSBK Superpole Race.
The Italian secured his eighth consecutive win of the season, with him and teammate Iker Lecuona joined on the podium by Sam Lowes in another Ducati-dominated result.
Bulega maintained the lead into Turn 1, closely followed by Lecuona who made a move on Lowes into Turn 3.
In a replication of Race 1, the factory Ducati duo and Lowes stormed away from the rest of the field but Bimota’s Alex Lowes made two ambitious moves on Alvaro Bautista and Xavi Vierge to claim fourth after Lap 1.
Bulega extended his advantage to 1.5s inside the first three laps, proving once again to be one of the quickest out of the traps.
Further back, MGM Ducati rider Tarran Mackenzie crashed out at Turn 4, becoming the first and only rider to retire from the race.
Bulega ended up prevailing to extend his winning streak to 12 races, putting him on the brink of equalling Toprak Razgatlioglu’s record.
Lecuona sealed second once again, finishing 1.7s behind, making it another dominant factory Ducati display.
Marc VDS rider Lowes crossed the line in third place to replicate his Race 1 finishing position.
However, the battles behind impressed on the final lap, as Bautista pulled off an audacious move on Lowes to snatch fourth place for Barni Spark Racing.
After losing fourth place, Bimota’s Lowes settled for fifth place, finishing over six seconds behind the leader.
Xavi Vierge made an impressive move on the final chicane to snatch sixth from BMW rider Danilo Petrucci, who narrowly defeated Yari Montella by only 0.001s.
Yamaha rider Andrea Locatelli was forced to drop one position due to irresponsible riding, allowing Remy Gardner through, but the Italian overtook him for ninth by the end of the race.
Behind the Australian, Miguel Oliveira secured 11th place, followed by an impressive performance from rookie Alberto Surra.
Lorenzo Baldassarri, Garrett Gerloff and Tommy Bridwell followed after a close battle for 13th through to 15th place.
