Andrea Kimi Antonelli has brought out the red flag with around 10 minutes of the final practice session of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver was on a push lap at the Albert Park Circuit, when he took too much kerb at Turn 2, sending him sliding into the opposing barrier, which saw him bounce across the circuit.
Antonelli’s W17 came to a complete halt off the racing line, but the car was totalled, with debris strewn across the track.
The red flag was immediately brought out, ironically as team-mate George Russell was on course to set the fastest lap of the session so far.
