Arvid Lindblad has revealed his satisfaction following a strong maiden Formula 1 qualifying session at the Australian Grand Prix.
Lindblad entered the weekend as the youngest British driver to debut in F1, with pressure on the 18-year-old’s shoulders to perform.
Rising to the occasion, he progressed to Q3, ending the session narrowly slower more experienced teammate Liam Lawson.
He and Racing Bulls look to be in the mix for best of the rest behind the top four of Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari, fuelling hopes of a strong result in Sunday’s race.
Lindblad revealed his satisfaction at his progress in Melbourne, as he prepares for his first F1 race.
“Yeah, it’s been a really good weekend so far,” he said to media, including Motorsport Week.
“I was extremely excited coming into the weekend. This is something I’ve been working towards and dreaming of my whole life, so to be having my debut is extremely cool.
“And to have it gone so well today is much better than my expectations and I’m just really much looking forward to the race tomorrow.”

A weekend to remember for Arvid Lindblad
Lindblad then praised his team’s efforts, revealing expecations have been exceeded as he settles into life in the F1 paddock.
“I think the weekend’s gone really well so far,” he said.
“Like I said before, it was much beyond my and the team’s expectations. Coming into the weekend, we made a massive step from Bahrain.
“So the weekend’s gone really smoothly. I felt really comfortable with the car from the beginning. And I’ve just really enjoyed driving, so massive thanks to them for all the work they’ve done.
“I think it’s cool to share a room with some of the guys that I used to watch on the TV when I fell in love with the sport. So it’s cool to share the track with them and be in their company.”
