George Russell topped the timesheets on the opening day of the second week of Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain.
The Mercedes driver clocked the fastest time – a 1:33.459s – just one hundredth of a second ahead of Oscar Piastri.
Charles Leclerc’s fastest morning time was enough to put him third, with Lando Norris fourth.
After the confusion and chaos of last week’s mock race start, cars went back out again shortly before the official end of the day’s running to complete another.
Some cars failed to get away as cleanly as others, but appeared to be less as fraught as the previous attempt.
The day elapsed without many big incidents, one of the most notable being Lance Stroll’s spin into the gravel at Turn 11, which brought out the red flags.
Max Verstappen was the only driver of the 22 to not complete a single lap, with Isack Hadjar doing double duty.
