Christian Horner has delivered a surprising revelation about his arch Formula 1 rival Toto Wolff, as the former Red Bull boss plots his comeback.
One of F1’s most iconic rivalries in recent years, Horner and Wolff frequently came to blows in media during Red Bull’s battle with Mercedes.
This peaked during 2021, during a bitter campaign that saw Red Bull end The Silver Arrow’s dominance of the sport stretching back to 2014.
The battle for the 2021 championship is widely regarded as one of the most brutal in F1 history, with both teams trading hot comments in the media.
Relations reached boiling point at the British Grand Prix, after Max Verstappen crashed following a collision with title rival Lewis Hamilton.
After heated discussions provided a reset, the controversial Abu Dhabi GP saw a flurry of media comments, the duo’s relationship at a low that both had to work hard to recover from.

But Horner has now made a surprising omission about his rivalry with Wolff, revealing a level of respect for his former counterpart, despite their differences over the years.
“A lot of people made a lot out of the rivalry I had with him. I have a huge amount of respect for him, he was quoted as saying by The Independent.
“He has been tremendously successful. He has won a huge amount.
“He is very bright. We are just different people, equally competitive, just different. And sport is boring if everybody is friendly and loves each other.
“You have got to have a rivalry that will create a real interest. The worst thing is if everyone is too nicey-nicey and chummy.”
