Aston Martin has confirmed that Stoffel Vandoorne and Jak Crawford will remain part of its Formula 1 driver line-up this season.
Vandoorne’s continuation comes as little surprise.
The former McLaren and Formula E driver has been embedded in Aston Martin’s structure for several years as reserve and simulator driver.
He last drove for the team during the post-season test in Abu Dhabi at the end of 2025, continuing a relationship built on experience and detailed technical feedback.
Away from F1, Vandoorne remains an established figure in Formula E.
He won the world championship with Mercedes in 2022 and has since continued to deliver strong results across the all-electric series, most recently serving as a reserve driver for Jaguar.
That blend of experience across categories makes him a reliable option should Fernando Alonso or Lance Stroll be unable to race during the season.

Crawford, meanwhile, represents Aston Martin’s longer-term future.
The American joined Aston Martin in 2024 after graduating from the Red Bull junior programme and will again serve as third driver.
He arrived with a solid junior record, having won races in Formula 3 and established himself as a consistent frontrunner in Formula 2.
Still early in his F1 development, Crawford gained valuable exposure last season, completing two free practice appearances before taking part in the young drivers’ test at the end of the year.
Aston Martin’s decision to retain both drivers points to a focus on continuity and preparation.
The team now enters the season with proven experience and emerging talent.
