Max Verstappen brought out the red flags on the second morning of running in Formula 1‘s pre-season test in Barcelona, as four teams opted to halt running due to rain.
The Dutchman was making his first appearance of the week in the new Red Bull RB22, having taken over from Isack Hadjar, who had done quickest on Day 1.
With a continuing blackout, details are unconfirmed, but reports suggest that Verstappen beached the car at Turn 5, but was able to quickly return to the track, and action was able to resume.
With a small flurry of cars on track yesterday, it was just the Milton Keynes-based squad that took to the track, along with Ferrari.
The Circuit de-Barcelona Catalunya was also affected by rainfall, scuppering plans of four teams that were scheduled to run.
Mercedes, Alpine, Audi and Cadillac all opted to cancel their days’ running, with Haas following suit, the American squad citing it was taking the day out to analyse “all the data gathered yesterday”.
Aston Martin confirmed late on Monday that it would miss both Tuesday and Wednesday’s running, with the AMR26 expected to run the final two days of the test.
