Aston Martin is set for a spell on the sidelines as Formula 1 prepares for its first pre-season test ahead of the 2026 season.
With McLaren deciding to miss Day 1, and Williams opting to miss the test altogether, there will be some ghosts of Grands Prix past festering in the garages at the Circuit de-Barcelona Catalunya this week, as some will be left empty.
It now appears that the Silverstone-based squad will be another, with RacingNews365 suggesting that the team will be choosing to sit out the first day at least.
Speculation suggests that the team may miss the second day too, as the Adrian Newey-designed AMR26 appears to face a few more finishing touches from the famed technical guru’s pencil.
Its engine manufacturer, Honda, has already admitted there are some problems it is facing ahead of its power unit – recently launched at an event in Tokyo – going into the back of the car.
With the team having set foot on Spanish soil, everything is in place, but there will apparently be no green cars on track on Monday.
Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will continue to race for the team, now also led by Newey, who is assuming the role as Team Principal for the first time.
