The father of the late Formula 1 driver Jules Bianchi has announced with “immense joy” the return of a kart belonging to his son after a heartbreaking theft last week.
Philippe Bianchi issued a plea for help after several go kart chassis – including the last Jules drove before his step up to single-seater racing – were stolen from his possession.
Bianchi Sr said at the time that the burglary, in which nine JB17 Forever chassis were taken, hurt him and his family due to the sentimental nature.
Mercifully, a fresh update has been posted with good news, however the return of some of the nine chassis is still forthcoming.

“It is with immense joy that I can confirm that Jules’ kart has been found – an enormous relief for our entire family,” Bianchi wrote.
“A huge thank you to everyone who shared the information on social media, to the media who helped spread the word, and to the Brignoles gendarmerie for their action.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who made this possible.
“There are still a few karts and a mini bike left to be found, but thanks to all of you, I have renewed hope. Forever Jules.”
Bianchi passed away in 2015, several months after a horrifying accident at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix which left the Nice-born driver in a coma.
A Ferrari junior driver, Bianchi made a name for himself with the fledgling Marussia squad, scoring points at that year’s Monaco Grand Prix.
