Alpine has confirmed that it has parted ways with reserve driver Jack Doohan, after having demoted the Australian midway through the 2025 Formula 1 season.

The Australian made his F1 debut with the Enstone-based squad at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2024, taking the place of the outgong Esteban Ocon.

Doohan was then handed a full-time seat alongside Pierre Gasly for 2025, but before the season began, was rumoured to be under pressure from new signing Franco Colapinto.

The Argentinian, joining from Williams, eventually replaced Doohan from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix onwards, with Doohan relegated to the reserve position.

And with Colapinto signed for 2026, Doohan’s future with the team looked decidedly bleak, as the door to a return was firmly shut.

In a statement, Alpine said it “confirms it has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan to not continue his driving services with the team for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season and allow him to pursue other career opportunities,”

“Jack became the first member of the Alpine Academy to graduate into a race seat with the team when he made his Grand Prix debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“The team would like to thank Jack for his commitment and professionalism to the team for the past four years, both on and off track, and wishes him all the best for the future.”

Since being outcasted from F1, Doohan made an appearance at a Super Formula test at Suzuka last month, with a view to competing in the series.

Things did not go well after crashing three times in as many days, driving for the Kondo Racing team. However, that team is yet to formally announce its line-up for the season, leaving Doohan open to a potential full-time switch.
