Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle has been awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the King’s New Year Honours List.
Pringle has been associated with the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC), the organisation that owns the Silverstone circuit, since 2006.
The Briton was appointed to his current role in 2017, in which time he has negotiated deals to keep Formula 1‘s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Along with welcoming an approximate 500,000 people through the gates on the F1 weekend, Silverstone also continues to host MotoGP action.
Meanwhile, Pringle has overseen an expansion to the campus at the Northamptonshire track, including a museum to celebrate the track’s history.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition,” Pringle said.
“It reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire team at Silverstone and the support and encouragement that we receive from the British Racing Drivers’ Club.
“Motorsport has always been about more than just one individual and at Silverstone we have a world class team.
“I am totally indebted to my inspirational colleagues who continue to set new standards in sport and deliver on a scale which is truly world leading.”
Multiple-time F1 race winner and BRDC president David Coulthard added: “Stuart’s passion for, and dedication to, Silverstone and the British Racing Drivers’ Club over the past twenty years, combined with his strategic vision to create a year-round leisure destination with motorsport at its core, will secure the future of our world-famous circuit for generations to come.
“We are delighted that this has been recognised and it is an incredibly proud moment for our circuit and the club.”
