My moment of the 2025 Formula 1 season was undoubtedly Carlos Sainz’s maiden podium for Williams in Baku.
Sainz had gone through a rough start at Williams with general adjustments to a new team and a fair share of bad luck.
Anyone who had doubted his abilities as a driver was already dicing with a risky prediction, and when he managed to stick his FW47 on the front row, it looked decidedly churlish.
Fast forward one day, and Sainz managed to take third place, securing the team its first podium of any kind since 2021, and its first under true race conditions since 2017.
Not only did it confirm Williams’ rejuvenation into the midfield, but it also silenced any doubt as to whether Sainz had been overhyped or chose the wrong team.
Sainz has undeniably helped Williams back onto a more favourable path and will give it supreme confidence entering 2026.
