Esteban Ocon is buoyed by Haas’ decision to increase its pre-existing relationship with Toyota into a title partnership from the 2026 Formula 1 season.
Prior to last weekend’s season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Haas announced that Toyota would be replacing MoneyGram as the team’s title sponsor.
The Japanese marque, which competed as a works team from 2002 to 2009, has been partnered with the Kannapolis-based squad since last October.
And having supplied expertise and resources to the team as it scored a career-best 79 points in 2025, Toyota has expanded its involvement with Haas.
Ocon explained that the partnership is more than a marketing exercise. Rather, it is a cultural alliance and even a personal source of motivation for him.
“The Toyota deal is taking a step up next year. It’s fantastic,” Ocon told media including Motorsport Week.
“Ayao [Komatsu, Haas Team Principal] told me that we were going to have TPC [running], and we were going to have some good stuff coming in.
“When I signed, he didn’t tell me the reasons why, but everything was held.”

Ocon excited to continue working with ‘petrolheads’ Toyota
The secrecy translated into genuine excitement for Ocon.
The 29-year-old described his love for the well-known brand, explaining that Toyota is an active participant in the team’s preparations for the new ruleset in 2026.
“Toyota is a brand that I really enjoy working with. I’m not saying that because they are working with us; I really mean it,” the Frenchman added.
“They have great values, they have great respect, and they are passionate about racing. They are petrolheads, basically.”
Ocon went on to state that the connection between Haas and Toyota extends to outside F1, giving him and team-mate Oliver Bearman more exciting ventures.
“They’ve put us on the gravel track; they’ve put us on the craziest track I’ve ever seen on the road. They’ve made me test the WRC car in Goodwood. It’s fantastic to work with them.”
In 2026, the increased collaboration and performance programs designed specifically for Haas will strengthen the partnership. That’s at least what Ocon believes.
“I think this next year is really going to step up in terms of involvement and what we are going to do together. It’s awesome,” he concluded.
