Valtteri Bottas has made his first official appearance as a Cadillac Formula 1 driver, in a social media post of the Finn visiting its Silverstone facility.
The Finn is making his full comeback to F1 after a year back at old stable Mercedes as its reserve driver, having lost his drive with Sauber at the end of 2024.
Bottas will join up with fellow veteran Sergio Perez at the American marque, with preparations already well underway ahead of its eagerly anticipated debut next year.
The 36-year-old was chosen, along with Perez, to bring their much-needed experience to help the team take its baby steps in F1, in a year that sees a plethora of new technical regulations.
Cadillac posted two videos on its social media platforms, the first making reference to one that went viral in the summer of Bottas declaring a parked Cadillac SUV in the street had “a nice seat”.
The second had more an official flavour, with Bottas shown having his first seat fitting for real, and explaining the whys and wherefores of the process.
Bottas has also tested for other Mercedes-powered teams this year, as part of his contract with the ‘silver arrows’, and was also noted for being somewhat of a mentor to rookie driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
He will need to get up to speed with Perez, who, whilst being out of a cockpit of any kind since his unceremonious firing from Red Bull – also at the end of 2024 – has completed a TPC test in a blacked-out Ferrari SF-23 in Imola last month.
Cadillac will of course not be present for this week’s end-of-season test at the Yas Marina Circuit but will first take to the track in the first official test in Barcelona in the New Year, with its livery to be unveiled at the Super Bowl in Feburary.
